I am at the bottom of this page and mentioned frequent urination/kidney pain that developed at the same time as onion armpit odor. I had a scan done recently and found out I have renal papillary necrosis. It is believe to have happened from an autoimmune disease. Kidney damage and armpit odor still present. I refuse to believe they are not associated. Just giving an update. Thanks!

Hi Kate, thanks for updating. There is a whole list of genetic and acquired disorders that are characterized by distinctive body odors, among which diabetic ketoacidosis, schizophrenics, phenylketonuria, hypermethioninemia, trimethylaminuria, sweaty feet syndrome, isovaleric academia and oasthouse syndrome. I was not aware of renal papillary necrosis, but it would not surprise me that it is correlated with a change in body odor. They are finding more and more diseases linked with sensory changes; most recently Parkinson's disease. Here is an article of how it was discovered. Best, Chris
