sudden bad body odor
I am a 56 year old male and I suddenly have bad BO under my arms, within an hour after showering it begins, even after using the same deodorant and anti-perspirants I've always used, I even tried new ones, but no help. It's very embarrassing. I also use antibacterial soap. I read that you had put on an old t-shirt when you were painting and that somehow it helped and reversed the BO. I'm a bit confused, was that a clean or a worn t-shirt ? Is it possible that I picked up bad Bo form my laundry in the public laundry machines? Thank you

Hi, thank you for sharing. It is definitely possible to pick up bacteria from a public laundry machine. It is also possible you already had this bacterium, and by inhibiting the autochthonous bacterial community, the smelly one could gain dominance. We all have good and bad odorous bacteria in the underarm, but the right balance prevents from having underarm malodor. I specifically used a worn t-shirt, that regrew my own good-odorous bacteria. It also involved a bit of luck to shift my underarm microbiome back to normal. It is difficult to repeat this; that’s why we are doing underarm microbiome transplants and bacteriotherapy to treat this more targeted. Best, Chris
