Is merino wool better than polyester?
After a week of intense skiing I've realised that merino wool clothes smells much better than synthetic one. Is merino wool worse nutrient medium for bacteria than polyester?

Synthetic clothes, such as polyester, are the worst when it comes to developing body odor. Two main reasons: 1/ they attach the lipids really well (so old lipids are not washed out) and 2/ specific malodor-causing bacteria can attach, adhere and grow on synthetic clothes really well, so more body odor is formed. Cotton, wool and merino wool develop much less body odor in the textiles, as compared to synthetic fibers. Best, Chris
