healthier pH for armpit

Q&ACategory: Questionshealthier pH for armpit

Hi, I understand modifying the skin pH is not the best way to combat odor but, since skin is slightly acidic, would it be healthier for the skin to use products containing weak acids than sodium bicarbonate or other bases??? would using mild surfactants (liquid soap as deodorant) with neutral pH, be a better option than using very acidic or very alkaline products ??

Hi Marcelo, indeed - applying products with a slightly acidic pH is much better then using products with a high pH (like most soaps or stick deodorants). The armpits naturally have a pH of about 5.5 to 6.5 (which means slightly acidic). Neutral is 7 and basic is anything between 7 and 14.  Best, Chris
