People can become desensitized or immune to their own body odor over time. This is because the sense of smell becomes less sensitive to constantly present odors. As a result, an individual may not be aware of their own body odor even if it is noticeable to others. However, this does not happen often and definitely not with young people. And in that case, their body odor is also not that strong. I have seen many people and only the very low odor thresholds were hard to determine. So we are then also talking about people with very little odor. However, people generally rate their own body odor as much worse than it is in reality. So people can become preoccupied with having body odor. It is always good to ask a friend or family member to peer-assess your body odor. Best, Chris
