Do you think that if a person has had body odor for a few years, that all of their clothes (even the freshly washed ones) have the malodorous bacteria on them in the armpit region

Hi Dominic, thanks for your question. This is different for everyone and every textile. There are severe & rare cases where this might happen. But for most people this will not be the case. The clothes bacteriome is different than the underarm skin bacteriome. There is a selective enrichment on clothes and in many cases, these will be non-smelly bacteria. It also depends which textile it concerns. Natural fibers are less prone to BO development, synthetic ones are more prone to it. But it is a fact that bacteria remain on clothes after laundering and after a while they (and their smell) become persistent.
